Police say that they are continuing to investigate and are trying to track down the other males involved in the assault, reported CBS, which was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.
Police took both the father and mother into custody for questioning but, so far, neither has been charged.
According to authorities, the mother went inside where her boyfriend worked.
Last week, in North Carolina, a food delivery auto with a 1-year-old baby inside was stolen as the mother made a delivery, leaving the engine running.

"They were able to pull this auto thief out of the vehicle", chief inspector Scott Small, of the Philadelphia Police Department, told local television station WPVI. Once at the vehicle, he grabbed the auto thief and pulled him out, hitting him repeatedly. "And the boyfriend caught up to him and there was some sort of physical struggle that ensued", Small said.
The boyfriend, the father, pursued the auto on foot, and caught up with the thief and kidnapper about a block away in traffic. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
'The male assaulted the father and fled, but was stopped by a large crowd who physically assaulted him. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said they are both cooperating with investigators.
A spokeswoman for the district attorney's office said prosecutors are waiting for police to complete their investigation before commenting. No arrests have been made, he said.
