An outage affecting Telstra's enterprise data services has knocked out access to EFTPOS and ATMs in some areas.
Woolworths customers reported hearing an announcement telling them of a nationwide outage which is leaving some unable to pay for their groceries.
CBA said it was affecting ATMs, Eftpos and some in-branch services, but NetBank and the CommBank app were still functioning.
An ANZ spokesperson has confirmed it is also experiencing outages, suggesting the problem might be "telco-related", while a NAB spokesperson confirmed "sporadic outages" relating to Eftpos but not ATM services in New South Wales and Queensland.
Some customers have also reported issues with the bank's wesbite.

The service claimed its vessels had been carrying out patrols " according to regular procedures", the Mehr News Agency reported . The commerical tanker said to have been protected by the Royal Navy on Wednesday was operated by British Petroleum.
The telco said it's now investigating the issue, which is impacting "a number of enterprise customers nationally".
The supermarket giant says a Telstra network issue means its stores are having to process payments manually.
"We are experiencing higher than normal calls into our call centre". We are working closely with external providers as to when these services will be restored and we will continue to update our customers as a priority.
"At this stage we haven't received any updates from our Merchant Servicing team confirming if there is an issue", a company spokesperson wrote on Twitter.
"We are now investigating the cause and will provide further updates". We are continuing to monitor all services as this happens. "We apologise and thank you for your patience today as we worked to restore services", the CBA tweeted.
Westpac tweeted on Thursday night that the majority of branches, ATMs and services impacted were "back up and running", before thanking customers for their patience. "Online banking is working normally", the red and white bank said.
