On the court he is now a nine-times grand slam singles victor and on Saturday he completed the "Dylan slam", his 6-0, 6-2 win over Britain's Andy Lapthorne giving him his fourth straight grand slam title.

This will be her 3rd Grand Slam final since coming back from maternity leave and she is yet to win one.

After the match, Williams said playing against Halep made her feel like a "deer in the headlights".

Last season's French Open champion completely outplayed Williams to deny the American the 24th major which would have elevated her to parity with Margaret Court. The Venus Rosewater Dish will be on court, waiting to be taken to its new home in one of these two excellent tennis players' homes - but where does it go?

Halep won 83% of her first-serve points, an excellent percentage at any time.

Halep, the 2017 French Open victor, had beaten the American veteran Williams just once in their previous 10 contests - a round-robin stage of the 2014 year-end championships in Singapore.

Showing off the talents and traits that once lifted her to No. 1 in the rankings, Halep never really gave Williams a chance to get into the match.

At 2-2 Halep scooped up a ball she had no right to reach and Williams lurched forward to blaze a backhand long. It's an honor to play in front of the Royal Box.

"When someone plays lights-on, there's really not much you can do", Williams said after Saturday's match. "But I feel mentally stronger facing her".

At least 35 injured from turbulence on Air Canada flight
A woman behind her hit the ceiling so hard that she broke the casing of an oxygen mask, said Beam, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Air Canada was arranging hotels and food for passengers in Honolulu and looking at resuming the flight, the statement said.

She's also dealt with a series of injuries and arrived in England having contested only 12 tour-level matches in all of 2019.

"That's like the coolest thing because they could not care that I'm in a wheelchair".

Williams, whose two sets win took her to 200 career sets won at Wimbledon joint second with Chris Evert in the all-time women's list behind Martina Navratilova (249), says that she is in a better frame of mind than she was when she ended up losing in both the Wimbledon and US Open finals previous year.

The 27-year-old then sped away to love on her serve, moving tentative Williams around the court to create wide open gaps.

"Now I'm feeling good, I can do what I do best, and that's play tennis".

"But I knew if we are patient and if we work hard, we get the feeling of the grass court". I just go out there and play, see what happens.

And in 2017, again wrote about it in Fortune saying: 'I want to bring my perspective and experiences as an athlete, an entrepreneur and a black woman to the boardroom and help create a more inclusive environment in this white, male-dominated industry'.

"At the beginning of the tournament I told people in the locker room that if I win it will be fantastic because then I get membership here for life so that was one of my motivations before, so now I'm happy".
