Not for the first time this season, Mourinho was left to praise the battling qualities of his players, who will play Ajax in the final in Stockholm on May 24 after the Dutch club ousted Lyon 5-4 on aggregate despite losing the second leg 3-1.

"The more I can play, the better for me and the more I feel I can help the team".

Jose Mourinho hailed his warriors as they held on to reach the Europa League final. "Of course I want to play football".

The Red Devils head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after the disappointment of their 2-0 defeat by Arsenal at The Emirates last weekend.

The very fact that United's season - nine long, hard months - comes down to one game, one result, nearly feels cruel.

Mourinho also pointed out that his side have cultivated a run of 25 unbeaten Premier League games this season, although they have also registered 14 draws, which is a record high for the League.

"I think when the result is 0-0 and such a penalty is not given it's a crucial moment of the game".

There are two Antonios, says 'animal' Conte
It was one of our hardest games with the form Everton have been in at home. "We are talking about two great strikers". Nevertheless Conte will not allow his team to take their foot off the gas just yet.

The 23-year-old has impressed in his first season at Old Trafford but lost his composure towards the end of Thursday's 1-1 draw. "I accept that you say that". I haven't made a big fuss of it.

"I have to give some minutes to everyone because we have only 15 players, we don't have more", he said.

The Portuguese has confirmed that Sergio Romero will get the nod ahead of David Dea Gea for the final. "So I have to play them but I have to play them mixed, in periods".

"In the Premier League, we can only finish fifth or sixth, I think".

The Slovenian was chosen to officiate the match in Solna's Friends Arena, and while he has already refereed six Champions League matches this season, the last time he crossed paths with Mourinho is likely to come into greater focus.

"But, like we did against Arsenal, we didn't throw the match away, we tried to win, we gave a hard match to our opponent, we had our chances to get a different result and that's what we are going to do".
