After Swearing In Justice Gorsuch Gives A Speech From The Heart

Donald Trump reveled in the biggest political victory of his presidency at a White House ceremony on Monday in which his Supreme Court pick Neil Gorsuch was sworn in, poised to make an instant impact on a court once again dominated by conservatives.

McConnell's Senate confirmed Gorsuch last week after Republicans changed chamber rules to block the minority party from being able to filibuster.

In Gorsuch, Mr Trump picked a respected federal appeals court judge who is seen as a fervent disciple of both Mr Scalia and a brand of conservative jurisprudence that calls for the strict interpretation of the US Constitution as its writers intended. McConnell said after the election that he didn't think Trump had a chance of winning or Republicans of holding their Senate majority.

Gorsuch becomes the 113th Justice to serve on the Supreme Court since its establishment in 1789 - and the first former clerk to serve alongside his former boss, Justice Kennedy.

The confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court will be remembered for shattering political norms.

"I am humbled by the trust placed in me today", Gorsuch said. In all years, authors Tanja Jacobi and Dylan Schweers said, male justices interrupted female justices far more frequently than the other way around. "Our country is counting on you to be wise, impartial and fair to serve under our laws not over them and to safeguard the right of people to govern their own affairs", said Trump to the newly appointed Supreme Court justice.

The court is a close-knit place, and staff and a number of the justices divide up into committees dedicated to the functioning of the institution.

Cristiano Ronaldo: People who love me never have any doubts
Forward Ronaldo said it was a moment to savour. "I can describe the goals in a simple way: exciting". Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will meet in the second leg on April 18 at Santiago Bernabeu.

Gorsuch, speaking briefly after the swearing in, used much of his time to thank those who helped him through the process.

The new justice was introduced by President Donald Trump at the public ceremony April 10 in the White House Rose Garden.

-Gorsuch joins the ranks of justices who are millionaires. To ensure his nomination would be approved, Senate Republicans voted for a rule change that essentially removed the need for bipartisan compromise over any future nominee.

Neil Gorsuch was sworn in as a Supreme Court justice on Monday, filling the vacancy left on the nation's highest court by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia previous year, reports the Blaze.

McConnell told reporters Friday that "the most consequential decision I've ever been involved in was the decision to let the president being elected a year ago pick the Supreme Court nominee".

Justice Clarence Thomas credited the late Justice Antonin Scalia with helping him learn the ropes. The president is predicting Gorsuch will go down as "one of the truly great justices" in the court's history.

The U.S. Supreme Court could also take up a gun rights case out of San Diego in which the plaintiff argues the Second Amendment allows people to carry guns openly outside of their home, as well as a voter rights case involving voter identification and redistricting out of North Carolina at the April 13 conference. One of his most notable decisions came in the 2014 Burwell v. Hobby Lobby case, in which Gorsuch upheld that the federal government could not force businesses to offer coverage for abortion services.
