Democratic Unionist Party leader Arlene Foster has tweeted that discussions with British Prime Minister Theresa May's Conservative Party are "going well" and that she hopes for a conclusion soon.
On Tuesday Ms May, following a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, reiterated her government will get on with Brexit and make a success of it.
The British Prime Minister had convened general elections to try to widen her majority and to negotiate with the European Union from a position of strength, but Mrs May lost her bet. Her gamble failed spectacularly.
But now a number of senior Conservative figures say a Brexit deal, which leaves the United Kingdom inside the Single Market or the Customs Union is preferable.
Under the confidence and supply arrangement being mooted by the Tories and the DUP, the Northern Irish party's 10 MPs would lend its support to the Government for key votes - such as passing the Budget and the Queen's Speech. Although elections for the assembly took place in a March, it can only meet if the two leading parties, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and the pro-republican Sinn Fein, agree to work together by appointing a first minister and deputy first minister. "This new arrangement is very unsettling and people are concerned and anxious about what it may mean, or what promises may be given. There's a lot of anxiety", Sinn Fein MP Michelle Glidernew told AFP.

As six senior Conservatives argued for closer links between Britain and the European Union they also said Labour and other parties should have a say in the final deal.
The European Parliament's Brexit negotiator, Mr Guy Verhofstadt, also expressed his frustration.
"But we do want to do so in the national interest to give stability to the government and that's why we will be entering these negotiations", she said.
She told a meeting of backbenchers that she had got the party into "this mess" by calling the snap election and now "I'll get us out of it".
Senior British minister and prominent Brexit campaigner Michael Gove said on Tuesday that Britain will leave the EU customs union, which guarantees tariff- free trade within the bloc but prohibits members from striking third-party trade deals. "Talks are going well".
