The Benjamin School's girls golf team had the thrill of their golfing lives without hitting a single shot when the Bucks spent the day at Augusta National as a guest of a member seeing in person what they had only imagined before.

Rory McIlroy has turned Augusta into a second home over the last few weeks, twice flying in for marathon practice rounds that allowed him to play 99 holes in his preparation for the Masters.

Spieth fought back to get second place behind eventual victor Danny Willett, which meant he has finished second, first and second in his three Masters and is a composite 25-under-par.

The world golf number three Jason Day has received a major boost on the eve of the Masters with USA doctors confirming his mother does not need chemotherapy for lung cancer. That might seem like hyperbole, but if you've witnessed Augusta National's practice facility, you undoubtedly offered up an "Amen".

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — On a warm, sunny afternoon in Amen Corner, Jordan Spieth stepped up to No. 12 and stuck it right next to the flag.

Spieth, ranked sixth, is also confident he can be a contender again.

You can hear it in his voice.

"But, you know, they just pointed out a few things, a few pin locations to be wary of, a few putts to try not to leave yourself". "That would be insane".

"I've played 99 holes in two weeks here".

Instead, he was reminiscing again about the biggest disappointment of his young, flourishing career.

In 2016, Spieth made the turn on the final day with a commanding five-shot lead.

Johnson won his first major title at last year's US Open while McIlroy followed his 2011 Masters heartache by winning the US Open two months later.

Asked about dealing with the memories of previous year, the world No 6 added: "It will surely be there and it has been".

When the tournament begins, he expects more of the same.

"It is one of many tournaments I've lost given a certain performance on a hole or a stretch of holes". It happens in this game.

But the first three days are about the people watching, a trip to the Masters as special for patrons and the players in the tournament.

Forecasts for heavy rain today to soften the course add to the drama that one of golf's great stages annually produces.

And then Spieth fell apart on the 12th hole. In his 11 rounds before putting it twice in the water past year, he had six pars and three birdies.

"I really thoroughly enjoy this place and this week", he insisted. "I said, 'He's going to win a lot of golf tournaments.' There was control". "It's imaginative golf. It's feel golf". "Now players feel like if he's on the leaderboard, they can't afford to make a mistake". "When I go away from technical and toward feel, it's an advantage for me".

None of those players were named Dustin Johnson.

Being the best in the world, however, has never guaranteed anyone a green jacket. Because obviously I was busy with my mom and busy with my family and all that stuff and not really thinking about playing golf. "And if it doesn't happen this year, then I'll be ready the next year to do it".

"The timetable for his return, I didn't ask him, but you can tell that it's kind of you just have to wait and see".

When Spieth made that little joke Tuesday at the 12th, it felt like a cathartic moment.
