On Friday, April 14, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issued Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permits to several entities including Google, Tesla, Ford and NVIDIA, among others. However, as the tech giant begins testing what it calls "Project Titan", it is expected that more details regarding the autonomous vehicle and its technology will be revealed in due time.

Apple has been coy about its self-driving vehicle project, known internally as Project Titan. "This is likely Titan".

As per information released by California DMV, Apple has been granted permit for three vehicles for autonomous driving.

As per The Verge report, "Late previous year, Apple submitted a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in which it said that it was "investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation". Although it has never openly acknowledged it is looking into building an electric vehicle, Apple has recruited dozens of auto experts in recent years, and the permit puts the company bit a head on any possible plan.

First female Boston Marathon runner does it again 50 years later
This time she didn't have to dodge an angry course director, but was instead accompanied by 261 supporters who ran alongside her. And on Monday, the now 70-year-old ran the marathon again, wearing the same bib number, but under very different circumstances.

Above Avalon analyst Neil Cybart believes Apple is still interested in building the whole vehicle. At last, the company's secretive efforts was crowned by the success.

Apple has received California DMV permit for testing self-driving vehicles in California.

"It would lend credibility to the idea that Apple is creating a complete self-driving 'system, ' but doesn't assure that this would be a auto", says analyst Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy. Cybart suspects that Apple wants to ideal the software, then move to the task of building the vehicle that surrounds it. "The company is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation", the company said in the comments.

Many proponents of autonomous vehicles argue that they will actually be safer and lead to fewer accidents than cars operated by human drivers. The shift saw more than a few dozen employees working on the project laid off.
