Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly recently underwent wrist surgery to fix ligament damage in his throwing wrist, according to Tom Pelissero.

The report said doctors are confident Kelly will be back to full speed in time for training camp, but the procedure will sideline him for rookie mini-camp and OTAs.

Kelly threw about a dozen passes last week at Ole Miss' pro day before ending the workout because of the wrist injury. If Kelly isn't drafted, he'll need to prove himself in summer camp to even get a shot at playing in the National Football League next season.

He'll assume the role of Charlie Price beginning May 26, taking over for Olivier Award nominee Killian Donnelly. The Panic! At The Disco frontman will be making those high heels work in NY later this summer.

Based on his junior season at Ole Miss, with an SEC-leading 4,042 passing yards and 31 touchdowns through the air, even with some past off-field concerns, Chad Kelly could be a first-round pick. He already is recovering from torn ligaments in his right knee that ended his senior season in November.

Others clubs to express interest include Kansas City, Miami, Cincinnati and Buffalo, where Kelly's uncle, Jim Kelly, became a Hall of Fame quarterback. In January 2015, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct as part of an agreement stemming from a fight with two nightclub bouncers. After being forced to stop his workout due to injury during the Ole Miss Pro Day event, Kelly had hoped to throw for National Football League scouts and evaluators one more time before the draft.

Dr. James Andrews did the surgery, per Kelly's agent, Duray Oubre.
