Severe Bus Accident in France, over 30 Injured

Ten Britons were among 33 people injured when a Paris to London coach skidded off a motorway in wet weather and overturned in northern France on Sunday.

Of the 33 people on board, 29 sustained light injuries and four were seriously hurt, the statement said, though the fire brigade put the number at five.

The accident happened on the A1 motorway at exit 13 near Estrées-Deniécourt at 11.50am local time (10.50am United Kingdom time).

Social media users said British and Irish passengers were on board but the nationalities have not been confirmed.

Those injured were from eight nations, including 11 passengers from Britain. Some of the injured were foreign nationals.

A Prefecture spokesman told the Daily Telegraph that three of the four seriously injured passengers are British.

The Munich-based company, which operates low-priced bus services between major European cities, said in a statement that it was in "close contact with local authorities to determine the exact causes of the accident, and to take care of the passengers". They have been taken to nearby hospitals.

FlixBus said it was putting in place an emergency contact number and would provide a replacement bus service.
