A Taliban auto bombing killed at least 34 people and wounded 60 others as they lined up at a bank to collect their pay on Thursday in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province, in southern Afghanistan, according to Afghan officials.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The bomb tore through a queue of civilians and government employees who had lined up outside the bank to collect their salaries ahead of the Eid holidays marking the end of Ramazan.

The insurgents control large swathes of Helmand province, of which Lashkar Gah is the capital.
While earlier reports had said that gunmen stormed the New Kabul Bank, the spokesperson said that "the security guards of the bank started shooting after the incident".
