Juventus' scouting manager Javier Ribalta is leaving the club to take up a position at Manchester United.

It is understood Ribalta will work alongside chief scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout at Old Trafford.

Ribalta told the club's official website: "They were attractive years, where I worked very well".

Two Champions League finals and a horde of Serie A titles have come in the last five years Ribalta has been at Juventus and they've built up a fierce reputation in the transfer market, so this really does look like an excellent addition to Mourinho's staff. I thank all the company and in particular Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici for the confidence they have shown from the first day.

Mourinho has been extending United's scouting network since he arrived last summer and the club appointed 50 new scouts in a matter of months past year, as well as Brazilian expert Paulo Henrique Xavier, who was appointed in March.

Planning is well under way for the 2017-18 season, with Benfica's Victor Lindelof the only player to have so far arrived at Old Trafford.

He is also credited with playing a key role in the signings of several other prominent Bianconeri players past and present including the likes of Dani Alves, Kingsley Coman, Alex Sandro and Paulo Dybala. They are believed to be close to wrapping up a deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, whom Ribalta is said to have played a crucial part in signing for Juventus back in 2014.
