But despite a lull in job offers post Fifty Shades, she was adamant that she would not return to direct the sequel - in fact, she insists that she won't even be watching them.

Her run-in with EL James was, as she puts it, a "her vision versus mine" situation. "I don't understand when I can't navigate a person, when there's no synergy". Of course I wouldn't. The project revolves around psychiatrist Jean, played by Naomi Watts, who develops risky intimate relationships with the people involved with her patients. Taylor-Johnson called the experience "ego-denting".
"I'd be mad. It was a struggle and there were lots of onset tête-à-têtes, with me trying to bat it into the (right) place", said Taylor-Johnson, who went on to say that she was "so confused by EL James". "At the same time, I was like, 'Oh, I still have to keep fighting for stuff.' I just thought it was going to come a lot easier".
