Very early in the morning on Wednesday, a fire erupted in high rise apartment building Grenfell Tower in West London.
There were many chants of "Not 17" - a reference to the fact that they believe many more than 17 have died in the fire.
Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Cambridge visited the area to meet residents and community representatives on Friday.
British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday promised that the government would make £5 million available for victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, the Guardian reported.
This is not a matter for the council but for the coroner, police and other emergency services.
Residents had long complained about fire safety risks at Grenfell Tower during a refurbishment project completed past year, but said their concerns went unheeded.
The Sun newspaper said 65 people are now feared dead or missing in the fire.
The investigation into the cause of the fire that has now been extinguished will take weeks, he added.
Mohammed Alhajali, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee whose brother said he had died in the fire, was formally identified as the first victim by Mr Cundy.
"We are now talking retrospectively after the most enormous tragedy, but many residents felt that we needed to get on with the installation of new hot water systems, new boilers and that trying to retrofit more would delay the building and that sprinklers aren't the answer", he said.

Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton encouraged surviving residents to report themselves to authorities so they are known to be safe.
"I'm here because this child ... on Tuesday went to bed and now nobody knows where this child is".
May's response has been contrasted with that of Corbyn, who hugged locals at the estate during his visit on Thursday, and the royals who met residents and volunteers earlier today.
But former cabinet minister Michael Portillo said the Prime Minister "didn't use her humanity".
"She should have been there with the residents".
