Ronaldo was making the headlines on Friday, two days before Portugal's Confederations Cup debut in Russian Federation, because of a report that said he wants to leave Real Madrid and Spain following allegations that he defrauded the country's tax authorities.

Madrid's regional state prosecutor has accused Ronaldo of four counts of tax fraud from 2011 to 2014.

Spanish newspaper Marca said that Ronaldo believes he is being made an example of because of his status as a star and that "he is judged without people really knowing him".

They could not immediately be reached yesterday to comment on the report. PSG have been looking to finally achieve Champions League glory for years, and given his track record, who better than Cristiano to deliver it?

Hunter added that over the years, he had assumed that Ronaldo had "come to terms" with the different emphasis Man United and Real Madrid had towards him but that it seems the Portugal captain "is on the warpath" now. A person can escape imprisonment if he sentenced for less that 24 months.

He is said to have told team-mates of his intentions.

With the mid-season transfer window opening on Monday, bids could fly left, right and centre for his services - with Real rejecting a £260 million bid from an unnamed Chinese club in January, however back then Ronaldo was content at the Bernabeu.

Chelsea and Manchester City could both certainly afford Ronaldo, but it unlikely he would be the type of personality either Pep Guardiola or Antonio Conte like to work with.
