Calderon on Ronaldo's decision to leave Real, added: "I had the same situation with Manchester United when he chose to leave and I signed him".
According to Marca, a Spanish sports daily, Ronaldo feels as if he's been "used as an example in an unfair and disproportionate way" by Spanish tax authorities, even after he tried to work with them to fix his tax issues.
Ronaldo has helped Real win the Champions League three times, scoring twice in last month's final as they became the first club to retain the title and he only the second player to score in three different finals.
The pair spent time together at Real Madrid and share the same agent.
His possible departure could prove to be a big blow for Real Madrid. "At this moment, he wants to leave", the source added.
Reports are already circulating that Manchester United have taken notice of Ronaldo's situation and that Jose Mourinho would "relish" the chance to bring him back to Old Trafford.
Transfer Rumors: Ronaldo seeks Real Madrid exit after tax accusations
As a president you can't do anything other than let him go and get the best deal possible. Cristiano Ronaldo is clearly unsettled after what was published earlier this week.
Does Manchester United want him?
Ronaldo, who is at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation with the Portuguese national team, is the latest in a long line of football players in Spain - among them Barcelona forwards Lionel Messi and Neymar - to be caught up in cases over tax or transfers.
China would be one potential destination but the Portuguese forward's advisers would prefer he stayed in Europe, most likely either moving to Paris St-Germain or returning to the Premier League.
According to the accusation, after signing his contract with Real Madrid in the summer of 2009, Ronaldo "purported to" cede his image rights to a shell company based in the British Virgin Islands, a tax haven in the Caribbean. After winning the Champions League in May 2016, Ronaldo led Portugal to success in the Euro 2016.
Ronaldo, though, has publicly maintained that he has a clear conscience, while also privately confessing amid this saga that he wants to leave Spain.
Ronaldo signed a contract extension as recently as November, keeping him at the club through June 2021 with a salary of more than $50 million a year.
