John Oliver Is Relishing The Swift Downfall Of Trump's Credibility

"Just listen to the fantastic reason Comey gave for taking detailed notes on his meetings with Trump", Oliver said before tossing to a Comey clip.

John Oliver looked back at last week's testimony from fired FBI Director James Comey and the unbelievable reactions from Donald Trump and Paul Ryan.

Oliver said the most "pathetic" reaction to the hearing came from House Speaker Paul Ryan, a Republican who excused Trump demanding "loyalty" from the then-acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director because the President is "new to this".

Oliver began the episode by noting that his segment on the Comey hearings-in which fired FBI Director James Comey testified about his interactions with the Trump administration-would constitute a continuation of his show's theme known as "Stupid Watergate."Stupid Watergate" is a term Oliver has used over the past few months to describe the investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged Russian Federation ties, noting that it has "all the potential ramifications of Watergate but where everyone involved is stupid and bad at everything".

"He was tricked into a one-on-one dinner with Donald Trump, which is definitely not the first time that that has happened". But, according to Oliver, "The most tantalizing moments may turn out to be the things that Comey didn't or wasn't able to say".

"I was honestly concerned he might lie about the nature of our meeting and so I thought it really important to document it", Comey said last week.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said Monday the two sides should resolve their differences through negotiations. ISIS has its roots in al Qaeda in Iraq, which took part in the insurgency that followed the 2003 US-led invasion of the country.

"'Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication...'" Oliver read out.

T0 which Oliver responded, "Just think about what he's saying there: Trump is essentially claiming that he's been vindicated by testimony that he's claiming is false". "At this point he's become a walking logical paradox".

"100 percent", Trump said.

"I can not explain his behavior", Oliver said.

"Yeah, I can't answer that question here", Oliver said, pretending to be Comey. "Jane Goodall can not explain his behavior". But trying to figure out which was in control of Trump would be beyond her, and she would add, "I miss the integrity and emotional intelligence of the apes".

Oliver continued: "It's better to have a dinner alone with Trump than have Jared Kushner there too, just staring at you silently with his creepy, dead eyes".
