The Panamagate joint investigation team (JIT) has summoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's brother and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to appear before it. Prime Minister Sharif has been asked to appear before the JIT on Thursday.

Though the allegations were not directly levelled by JIT head Wajid Zia, the information was made public in the open court without further explanation by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, a member of the three-judge Supreme Court implementation bench formed to oversee the investigation of the Sharif family in the light of Panama Papers revelations. The JIT has asked Shehbaz to appear without any counselor and bring all documents related to a paper mill that he was a director of in 1999, said ARY news.

The JIT's summons to Mr Shahbaz was issued on the day when his close aide and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the joint investigation team should better call Mr Shahbaz if it wanted to do a Ph.D. and write a thesis on the Sharif family.

Pakistan's Supreme Court had constituted this probe panel on April 20.

His son's Hassan and Hussain Nawaz have already been summoned and questioned several times in recent days.

The number of hate crimes in Montréal was attributable to 33 more reported incidents targeting a religion. Jews remained the most targeted religious group with 178 incidents across Canada, down from 213.

It is pertinent to mention that JIT has summoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for questioning regarding offshore wealth on Thursday at 11.00 pm.

Sharif's camp has sought to remove two members of the JIT team, and his PML-N party voiced outrage over a leaked photograph taken from security camera footage showing Sharif's son, Hussain, appearing before the JIT.

During previous hearing, the JIT head told the judges that if hurdles prevailed, it would be hard to conclude the probe within the 60-day time frame.

"The false and fanciful allegations are part of a character-assassination campaign against JIT members, which has been ongoing since its constitution by the apex court to disrupt, delay and frustrate investigations being carried out by JIT", the report said.
