The chief minister had observed indefinite fast from Saturday.
The CM, who faced heat over the violent farmer stir in MP, broke his fast with a glass of coconut water offered by former state CM Kailash Joshi. These fasts allowed him to successfully deflect the fire he faced because of the plight of farmers in his state.
BJP's state unit president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan claimed the family members of those killed in Tuesday's police firing had on Saturday met Chouhan and requested him to call off his fast. As for farmers being forced by protesters to throw away milk and vegetables they had grown, he said, " We will find out who was behind the violence that took place during the agitation. The violence by Madhya Pradesh farmers in Mandsaur has spilled over to several other districts, including the Malwa-Nimad area and even reached the state capital. In his address, Chouhan said, "It is okay to protest if the government doesn't listen".
In the morning, he met delegations of small farmers and representatives of 236 farmer bodies to hear their grievances.
The region of the state which is most affected by the farmers' protest is the Malwa region and that is the area which is strongly held by Kailash Vijayvargiya. "My reactions to employees' agitation earlier in which I had warned not release a single additional pie to them was shown as my reaction to the farmer's agitation", he said.

McCabe refused to discuss any conversations he'd had with Comey regarding Comey's discussions with Trump. Mike Warner of Virginia, said the latest news on Coats "raises to me a huge amount of questions".
Earlier in the day, he affirmed that he has always tried to do a lot for the farmers. He told Mirror, "The Chief Minister's emotional outreach and announcement of remunerative prices for farm produce is bound to have a positive effect". There was a hand of the Congress in the whole episode and there was no reason for not believing what the Chief Minister was saying.
Before ending his 28-hour-long fast yesterday, Chouhan announced a series of measures for farmers including that purchase of farm produce below the minimum support price (MSP) was a criminal act.
A similar incident had taken place almost 20 years ago, when on 12 January 1998, 24 farmers were killed and 150 injured in a police firing in Multai tehsil, in MP's Betul district. He added that monetary compensation will be given to the people who suffered during the incident.
The opposition Congress had, however, dubbed Chouhan's fast as "drama".
Patkar said, "We are being told that if we go to Mandsaur, peace may get disturbed. We also asked for stern action against the culprits", said a deceased farmer's father.
