Efforts to bring together the warring AIADMK factions suffered a severe setback on Sunday night with former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam unilaterally announcing the disbanding of the seven-member committee set up by his group to negotiate the terms of unification with the ruling AIADMK (Amma).

Since no visible progress was seen on these issues, it was decided by the Panneerselvam faction to call off merger talks for the time being.

The AIADMK broke into two factions, following the death of Jayalalithaa.

He said he was being "forced" to come up with such an announcement as he had been "tolerating" all kinds of "irresponsible statements" from the opposition camp.

"This comes despite announcing that Dinakaran will be kept out of party affairs", Palaniswamy said, adding that the ruling faction did not call a meeting of the party's General Council to dismiss Sasikala and Dinakaran from their party posts.

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam on Monday said the panel appointed for merger talks was not doing anything towards development and that's why the decision was taken to dissolve it.

Indeed, it is only by virtue of Falcinelli’s prowess in the final third that Crotone still remains in contention to survive. In Romelu Lukaku, Koeman has a player with the capability of firing Everton to far headier heights than seventh place.

Targeting jailed AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala and her deputy Dhinakaran, he said according to the party bye-laws only the presidium chairman and treasurer were authorised to steer the party in view of Jayalalithaa's death, who was the duly elected party chief.

In April, Mr Dinakaran was arrested after he was accused of bribing Election Commission officials to gain control of the AIADMK's two-leaf symbol, which was also claimed by the OPS camp.

Responding to a question, he said it would be proved soon that the "cadres are with us".

While Team OPS has been criticised by rivals for being the "B-Team" of the BJP, Panneerselvam said that with regard to the Presidential Elections, they would take a decision on whom to support based on who the candidates are.

He condemned the alleged attack on a television crew when Deepa entered the Poes Garden residence of the late AIADMK supremo.
