Preds: Shutting down Pens' stars not possible every game

Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals topped all of TV on Thursday night.

NOTES: Matt Murray finished with 24 saves. His record in Nashville during the playoffs is 9-1, having allowed just 15 goals in 10 games. The two games in Nashville were won by the Predators by a 9-2 score. I was trying to get out of there. It'll be even crazier for Sunday's must-win Game 6!

The Penguins captain slashed through the Nashville defence on his first shift, drew a penalty and then set up Justin Schultz for the first goal in a 6-0 Thursday night thumping. The Preds will have a chance to redeem themselves when they head to Nashville on Sunday for Game 6. Nashville Predators' Viktor Arvidsson (38) and Pittsburgh Penguins' Carl Hagelin (62) trade punches during the third period in Game 5 of the NHL hockey Stanley Cup Final, Thursday, June 8, 2017, in Pittsburgh.

But Malkin and Kessel couldn't steal the spotlight from Crosby. Kessel added two assists, Malkin and Hainsey one each.

Crosby would add two more assists in the game, including a handsome backhand feed to Conor Sheary, who buried it in for a goal.

The Penguins already had to win two Games 7s in the playoffs, including one in double overtime against Ottawa to get to the Final.

"If necessary we will help move the crowds out of the streets and help move them on their way home", Trapp said. "We made a few adjustments, but we had confidence". Rinne has allowed 11 goals on 45 shots this series at PPG Paints Arena and is 0-3 in those games. His game is filled with moments like the Subban scrum ahead, if not always so obvious.

"That was a huge game", Rinne said. I came here well-prepared, and we didn't have it tonight. Perhaps not. But in a sport as unpredictable as hockey, a sport that has seen just about any and every scenario play out in its final series over the years, do the odds ever matter?

The Penguins defense looked much more comfortable in Game 5, which prevented the Predators from being able to reclaim any momentum in the first period.

Taylor Swift Is Savage
Swift, however, might want to end the dispute according to a Swift insider who told Us: "She honestly wants no part of this". Only Apple Music was allowed to stream the music when it chose to pay royalties to artists during a free three-month trial.

"I know we've got to be better in front of him", Predators coach Peter Laviolette said after Game 5. Do you really want to endure another Game 7, just so the Penguins can win at home? If that was meant to bait the Penguins, it backfired.

Crosby grabbed a pass with speed and then slashed through the gap between Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi before firing a shot off the left post.

Sure, Crosby dished out three assists in Pittsburgh's lopsided 6-0 win to give the Penguins a 3-2 lead in their increasingly coarse series with the Predators. The Penguins can clinch a second straight championship with a victory over the Nashville Predators. Basically, performing better in games with higher stakes as opposed to early rounds improves a player's Clutch Score, while wilting when the pressure is highest does the opposite. The ordeal resulted in two-minute holding minors for both men, who headed for the locker room with 1:32 remaining in the period.

Ed Trapp said a 90-minute clock will start at the conclusion of closing ceremonies after the game.

Crosby had this account: "He lost his stick, and he was doing some UFC move on my foot. I don't know that I've been around an athlete, not just a hockey player, but an athlete, that is as driven as Sid is". I don't know what he was trying to do.

"He likes the attention", Crosby said recently.

I'm kind of digging Crosby embracing the heel turn here. "I don't know what it was". "I don't think that there's any searching going on in there on how we're going to do this or what needs to take place. I saw my guy get his head cross-checked 10 times". Sheary took a pretty feed from Crosby and sent it by Saros 1:19 into the second to push Pittsburgh's lead to four. Reunited with Sheary and Jake Guentzel, the three recaptured the magic they had in the regular season, and Crosby was in the center of it.

"It wasn't good", Laviolette said of his team's start.

The Pens didn't look back from there and ended up scoring two more goals in the first period, which chased Rinne from the net after the first period for the second time in the series. "Definitely things we could have done better defensively".
