Sri Lanka shock India

After losing to Sri Lanka, India's next match is against South Africa on June 11.

However, with the omnipresent rain always lurking, there also remains a possibility of either or both the games being washed out.

India captain Virat Kohli said his team were not invincible after the defending champions allowed Sri Lanka to chase down a target of 322 to win a pulsating Champions Trophy match at The Oval on Thursday.

But just as Sri Lanka's hopes were rising their task became more hard, two run-outs spelling the end for each of their established batsmen.

Kohli blamed poor execution as India's bowlers took only one wicket, the other two Sri Lankan wickets coming from run-outs as they achieved the highest successful run chase in the tournament's history. He taught us good things about how to play on these tracks.

A brilliantly paced chase from Angelo Mathews' side saw them knock off 322 with eight balls to spare, the largest successful chase in The Oval's one-day worldwide history. All four teams in the group are level on two points from two matches.

Although he is well aware of the criticism that would come with elimination at the group stage, India captain Kohli is remaining upbeat and he called on his players to embrace the high-stakes nature of their showdown with South Africa. "Both teams have got some serious options", said the former right-handed batsman.

Mathews stroked six boundaries in his 45-ball 52, with the designated finisher Gunaratne playing an array of stunning shots in his quickfire 32 from 21 balls against an underwhelming Indian attack who never really put the opposition under pressure. He and Kusal played with a lot of freedom and that set us a platform and made it so much easier for myself and the middle order batters.
