Mahrez, however, out of respect for Claudio Ranieri, opted to stay for one more season and help with their Champions League campaign, with the club reportedly giving him a Gentleman's agreement that a transfer would be sanctioned the following summer.
The Telegraph claim that Mahrez is set to tell the Foxes he wants to leave and expects the Leicester chiefs to honour an agreement they struck previous year and agree to sell him at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old won the PFA Player of the Year prize after leading Leicester to the title.
Spurs made an enquiry over Mahrez in the January transfer window and remain in the market for a player of his type, particularly as they face strong competition for Wilfired Zaha, who Crystal Palace are prepared to pay £110,000-a-week. That said, it's pretty clear he will likely be leaving Leicester this summer.
It seems likely Arsene Wenger will want to bolster his squad after an exceptionally underwhelming campaign, although it now appears Arsenal will be unable to offer Mahrez the Champions League football that he craves.

The targets hit by the Turkish Air Force in Syria also include local television and a YPG broadcasting media station. Turkey's President Erdogan has threatened further airstrikes on Kurdish forces in Syria, Al Jazeera reports.
Mahrez had a stellar season for Leicester in 2015-16 after being purchased for just £400,000 from Le Harve in 2014.
French giants Marseille are interested in signing Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, according to a report.
Even this season, Mahrez scored important goals in their run to the Champions League quarter-finals, as well as key ones in their victories over Hull and West Ham back in March as they fought off relegation.
Now, though, Arsenal and Tottenham seem to have taken the lead in the race to sign Mahrez, and are set to go head-to-head in his pursuit as they are both keen to sign a winger this summer. The likes of Alexis Sancez, Mesut Ozil, Lucas Perez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all rumoured to be on their way out of the Emirates.
PSG's interest could provoke a desperate struggle for Mahrez's services.
