Despite its absence, Russian Federation has been one of the big talking points of this year's Eurovision song contest, hosted this year in Kyiv, the BBC reports. Participants will include performers from Belarus, Macedonia, and Serbia.
The pitch-perfect performance was not typical fare for Eurovision, an annual contest watched by millions across Europe that is better known for its flamboyant costumes than its polished vocal acts.
The 25-year-old singer performed "This Is Love", a song composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos with lyrics from Romy Papadea and John Ballard.
Who is representing the United Kingdom?
Russia's Sergey Lazarev was the hottest of favourites for last year's Eurovision, and his song You Are The Only One was the clear victor in the televote of the TV audience ringing in on the night.
Paul Weller has revealed that he wants to help the United Kingdom win the the Eurovision, and he'd be willing to share a song in order to do it.
