Two hikers, one of them just 14 years old, have been missing since they were swept down a creek at Grand Canyon National Park over the weekend.

A team from Uintah County Search and Rescue was part of a ground crew hunting the area where the hikers were last seen, and at the meeting point of the creek they fell into and the Colorado River.

Searchers on the ground and a helicopter and drone on Monday are trying to find the pair.

Family members say one of hikers swept away while crossing a remote creek in Grand Canyon National Park is the wife of the founder of the Merrell Boot Company.

The park service said it hasn't determined what went wrong and that there was no rain or flash flooding reported in the area.

"Spring warming trends and intermittent high creek levels are more likely after mid-March with the peak flows often in May".

Anyone with information about the missing hikers is asked to contact the National Parks Service at 928-638-7805.

We would like to thank everyone from around the world who have offered encouragement, support and prayers during this hard time as we continue to search for Jackson Standefer and LouAnn Merrell.

The 62-year-old woman is described as being 5-foot, 5-inches, 145 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes.

Authorities say the four hikers in the group were on a different path known as Tapeats Trail. She was carrying a homemade blue backpack with maroon fleece and hiking poles attached.

"Snowmelt or heavy rain may make creek crossings impossible", according to NPS. Search and rescue has dropped leaflet instructions to all boats on the Colorado River to be on the watch for any articles that could belong to Jackson and Luanne. "We are grateful to the people working around the clock and continue to be hopeful", said Jim Zwiers, executive vice president. "Out of respect for the family, McCallie will not be making faculty or students available for further comment at this time".

The second is described as a 14 year old male, 5'8′, 105 lbs with black hair. He was last seen wearing black Nike shorts, a long sleeve white Columbia T-shirt with "COLUMBIA" written on the sleeve, and navy blue Chaco sandals size 10. He was carrying a new sage green backpack.

The helicopter picked up the other two hikers and crews started searching the area from the air. He said his first trip through the canyon was at Tapeats Creek. We arrived at the grand canyon yesterday day morning.

"We are aware of the ongoing situation involving Jackson Standefer, and the entire McCallie community is praying for the best".
