Getzlaf scored the tiebreaking power-play goal with 4:46 to play on a weird deflection off Lance Bouma's skate, and the Ducks beat the Flames 3-2 Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.

A freak bounce on Ryan Getzlaf's power-play goal to win Game 2 for the Ducks has had the Flames wondering if they're due some after playing a game they felt was good enough to emerge victorious.

With just 4:34 elapsed in the middle frame, Stone, looking like he was back with the Calgary Hitmen, ripped home a point-shot and gave the Flames their second (!) even-strength goal of the series. If the Flames are going to win game 3 they need Elliott to up his level of play from game 2 and steal a game.

Coach Randy Carlyle said he planned to consult with Vatanen and with the team's training staff to see if the Finnish defenseman is able to play Monday night. "We didn't capitalize. They got a lucky bounce, let's be honest". It looked as though it could have been disallowed, but Toronto deemed the goal goal good and said they couldn't find conclusive evidence to overturn the call on the ice.

What wasn't surprising was the overall result: The Ducks won their 29th consecutive matchup with the Flames in Anaheim since April 25, 2006, extending the longest such streak in National Hockey League history.

Sean Monahan, Kris Versteeg, Michael Stone and Sam Bennett scored for the homeside while Brian Elliott made 22 saves.

Tillerson set to meet with Russian foreign minister
The only silver lining, Fox News notes, would be that China voted for abstention because it is a "win" for US diplomacy. Unlike he has done with previous secretaries of state, Putin didn't keep Tillerson waiting for hours on Wednesday.

Saturday's loss was especially tough for the Flames to swallow since they outshot the Ducks 37-29, including by a 15-6 margin in the second period.

"That's the one thing we think", Gulutzan said. "You always want to win your games at home, but we know we have a big test ahead of us".

"We can create more traffic", Versteeg said. Silfverberg went goalless in Anaheim's seven-game loss to Nashville in the first round last season. At the same time, Matthew Tkachuk tied up Rickard Rakell in front and provided a screen. But once the Flames were down 2-0, Elliott shut the door in a big way and was dynamite for the remainder of the night and the game winning goal was as fluky and freakish as it comes. Monahan finished off a passing play from Troy Brouwer and Gaudreau and got the fans engaged.

John Gibson was replaced by Jonathan Bernier in the second period following Calgary's fourth goal. Thompson also played a central role in the comeback.

Vatanen was a late scratch for the Ducks' 3-2 win over Game 2 after taking part in the warm-up prior to puck drop.

"That's most important - don't be caught up in the emotions of what's going on because the crowd is going to scream every time they think there's a penalty that should be called". Theodore has recorded three assists in the first two games. Chad Johnson was Elliott's backup. The defenseman is dealing with a nagging upper-body injury that kept him out of two contests near the end of the regular season. Kase played in Game 1 while Ritchie was suspended.
