Golden State locked up its fifth title in franchise history with Monday's 129-120 win over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors was named the NBA Finals MVP for 2017 on Tuesday.

"I'm picturing this scene where I go in and say, 'hey everybody, everyone be quiet, let's take a vote on whether we want to go to the White House.' Are you insane?"

There aren't usually words for that kind of sacrifice, but Kevin Durant found just the right ones, when he gave his mom a tearful shoutout in his acceptance speech for the NBA's Most Valuable Player Award three years ago.

Kevin Durant hugged his mom in the moments after victory in Game Five of the NBA Finals brought him his first championship. "Nothing should distract from what we were able to accomplish together".

There were no reported injuries on the container ship, which is operated by the Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen K.K. The crash damaged two berthing spaces, a machinery room and the radio room, according to the USA 7th Fleet.

Despite his incredible performance, the Golden State Warriors simply had too many weapons.

Durant noted there would be games where Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, or himself would not get double-digit shots in a game throughout the season. "I'm really happy for him and his mom, all the garbage he had to put up with - and he got the last word".

But that idea fizzled fast when the Warriors opened with a pair of lopsided wins at home, fought back late to steal the next game in Cleveland and then, after dropping their first game of the postseason, closed out the series at home.

And just so you know, I don't support the Cavaliers, I support Orlando Magic and have done since I was young. "They beat us, but I'm pretty sure we'll be back and we'll be ready to battle again", Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving said. I'm trying to stay locked in.

Cleveland star LeBron James, who won his first title in 2012 by beating Durant's Thunder in the finals, sees how the journey has made Durant into a champion over the past five years. "He said it. Just read my shirt". The streak continued as he scored 30 points in game 3 and went 6-11 from beyond the arc.
