West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and put Pakistan in to bat in the first fixture of a three-match one-day global series at the National Stadium in Guyana on Friday.

Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram said if Misbah believes that it is the right time to give up global cricket then he should retire. "If I've ever made a mistake in my career, if I've forgotten something, or done something wrong, please think of me as one of your own and forgive me, ignore me and let's move on", he added. "These were challenging tours and I knew that if I retired before them my critics would say I shied away from the tough battles and I also wanted to be with my team, a team that developed under my captaincy and achieve major success stories", he said.

"Sarfraz is a fighter and the team looks united under his captaincy".

He announced that he will leave cricket after the three-match Test series against West Indies. Whether the PCB had an influence on this decision is hard to say but given the stable head on Misbah's shoulders, it is probably a conclusion that is well thought out and in the best interests of the team he has groomed for many years.

Arkansas judge blocks state from using lethal injection drug
The drug company said the vercuronium bromide had been sold to the state for medical purposes - not capital punishment. The rally was attended by actor Johnny Depp and by Damien Echols, who spent almost 18 years on Arkansas' death row.

"I have really gained a lot of confidence and momentum and I did well with the A team as well".

Echoing Zaheer's words, former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Sallahuddin Sallu admitted that Misbah called it quit at the right moment before insisting that the most successful captain of our history truly deserves a rousing send-off. With consecutive series losses now threatening to wipe out years of progress and Pakistan dropping to fifth in the Test rankings, Misbah, at the age of forty-two, was feeling the heat and the scorn of the media.

Misbah has been at the receiving end towards the late end of his career.

"I was disappointed with the way we bowled at the end", said Ahmed, reflecting on the first time Pakistan have failed to defend a total in excess of 300 outside of the Indian sub-continent. Although their stint at the top was short-lived as India replaced them.

This three-match series is important for both West Indies and Pakistan. While the T20Is will be held in Barbados and Trinidad respectively, all the ODIs will be played at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
