Of those polled by Insights West, almost 80 per cent said they were decided voters.
A Liberal official said the party was reviewing McArthur's response, but did not comment further. "But among voters over the age of 35, it is essentially a tie".
At the same time, of respondents over the age of 55, almost half (48 per cent) said they'd be "very upset" to see the NDP return to power.
The survey provided hope for parties trying to unseat the BC Liberals with 56 per cent of respondents saying they felt it was "time for another provincial party to take over".
British Columbia's Liberal party began its bid for a fifth straight majority government on Tuesday as Christy Clark touted her government's record on job creation and balanced budgets while warning the opposition parties would risk economic growth with higher taxes and deficits.
Still, nearly two-thirds of respondents said they believe it's time for a change of government, including 33 per cent who voted for the Liberals in the last provincial election.
