Marc Batchelor: South African Ex-Footballer Shot Dead Outside Home in Johannesburg

Former Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star and TV presenter Marc Batchelor has been shot dead outside his home in Johannesburg.

Police spokesperson Col Lungelo Dlamini reportedly told a South African news agency: "He was attacked by two men who were driving a motorbike".

Gauteng police also confirmed that Batchelor was shot several times in his vehicle while on his way to Olivedale.

Photos shared on social media showed the vehicle windscreen riddled with bullet holes.

"They shot him several times; he died inside his vehicle. The motive is yet to be established, but we are investigating", Dlamini concluded. "The suspects shot several times at him".

Cops said he was murdered by two suspected motorbike assassins who opened fire through his window before fleeing.

Batchelor was part of the Buccaneers squad that won the CAF Champions League title against ASEC Mimosas in a two-legged encounter in 1995.

Former striker Mr Batchelor played for a number of clubs in South Africa, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Batchelor was a witness in the South Africa Paralympian Oscar Pistorius' murder trial, where he testified about the former paralympian's temper, according to IOL.
