Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige may keep hope alive for a standalone Hulk movie - he most recently said "never say never" to the question - but Mark Ruffalo won't. However, Universal still holds distribution rights, and is entitled to the right of first refusal, meaning that the company can decide whether or not to distribute a film produced by Marvel. Universal owns the rights to Hulk movies and they share him with Marvel for various team-ups like The Avengers. Unfortunately for Hulk fans, Ruffalo had some bad news. It was a very polarizing movie, directed by art-house filmmaker Ang Lee and patterned to actually look like a comic when it came to transitions and scene structure. Following the panel, Mark Ruffalo spoke with Fandango's Erik Davis, who teased a little bit of what they talked about on Twitter.
"I just want to make one thing perfectly clear today that a standalone Hulk movie will never happen".
Marvel is of course willing to work with other studios, as evidenced by its deal with Sony for Spider-Man, but seeing as The Incredible Hulk failed to set the box office alight, it's understandable why another solo movie may not top their list of priorities. After all, we're certainly not exhausted of him in the role, and would even pay to see a "Science Bros" movie with just him and Tony Stark out of costume the entire time.
