For Mr Macron, 39, the visit is a chance to use soft diplomacy to win Mr Trump's confidence and set about influencing U.S. foreign policy, which European leaders said lacks direction.
"When it comes to fighting terrorism, from day one, I can say that we've seen eye-to-eye and we are strongly determined to take necessary measures in order to root out terrorism and to eradicate it", Macron said through a translator.
It was Macron's fourth meeting with Trump since his election in May.
Merkel, as it happens, will also be meeting Macron on Thursday both she and Trump will converge on the French presidential palace within hours of each other.
Mr Trump said France's First Lady, wife of President Emmanuel Macron, was "beautiful" and "in such good shape" repeatedly during what many called an awkward interaction at the beginning of the US President's visit to Paris for Bastille Day. The First Lady continued, "I also want to take a moment to thank the employees and families of the United States Embassy for all of their hard work on behalf of our country, and to extend my warmest wishes to the patients and staff at Necker Hospital".

The unexpected bromance between the leaders of America and France was on full display for the world at the annual Bastille Day military parade and celebration in Paris.
But Trump isn't the only politician who can use Paris to make a symbolic point.
