Hodgkinson was killed by police after he fired more than 60 shots at GOP congressmen, staffers and police at a baseball field in Alexandria, Va., last Wednesday. Another police officer was injured. He has undergone several surgeries and remains in hospital. Both police officers are recovering and expected to return to full duty. He visited the unit 43 times between April and June, including the morning of the shooting. Scalise suffered a gunshot wound to the hip.
"The FBI does not believe that these photographs represented surveillance of intended targets", the FBI said in a statement. A review of his electronic communications also showed contact with the offices of Democratic Illinois Sens.
Hodgkinson did not have any ties to terrorism, said Tim Slater, the special agent in charge of the Washington FBI office, during a news conference. Hodgkinson has been previously charged with battery, with one incident allegedly involving him aiming a shotgun at a young man, and in March his neighbors complained about him shooting 50 rounds on his own property.
Slater said Hodgkinson acted alone and was known to have an "anger management problem". Just the night before he was doing a Google Maps search plotting a return road trip to IL.
On the morning of the attack, he arrived at 6:23 a.m. and left just 12 minutes later.

Also in March 2014, he was held on the charges of abusing policemen in Madhapur, Kyderabad. Bharath' s Car (TS09 EC0799) hit a parked lorry and the front portion got crushed.
Hodgkinson was living in his vehicle in the parking lot of the YMCA across the street from the baseball field, Slater said. He said Hodgkinson had never posted direct threats against members of Congress or the Congressional baseball game, but said that a witness told investigators Hodgkinson stayed at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park after being told it was the Republican team practicing.
During a search of Hodgkinson's van, investigators found a a handwritten list of six House Republicans' names.
Slater asserted that this was not a "hit list", and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation did not believe that Hodgkinson had any targets among, or had made any threats against, any of those six unidentified members of Congress.

The bill also turns another of Trump's campaign into law by creating a permanent VA accountability office, which Trump established by executive order in April. Bernie Sanders, Slater said. A family member told investigators Hodgkinson had expressed a desire to return to IL in a message on June 12.
