Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say deputies have fatally shot a male suspect in Palmdale.
Deputies have responded to the location at least four times for loud music and gang activity in the past two months, the department said.
When cops showed up, the teen's 65-pound pit bull bit one of the officers on the knee, the report said.
The animal was restrained, but then attacked the deputy again, according to KABC. That's when deputies opened fire - shooting six to eight rounds.
The boy died at a hospital, according to the sheriff's department.

They're carefully considering all of the different possibilities to help the Los Angeles Lakers . "I want to stay home".
The dog retreated to the rear of the complex, where deputies found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
"The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead", a press release by the Sheriff's department notes.
According to an internal memo obtained by the Times, the two deputies shot at the pit bull "while the pet owner simultaneously tried to jump onto the dog to stop it from attacking deputy personnel".
The deputy who was bitten was also struck by bullet fragments. "We believe that when the (teen) came out from behind the building, which was approximately 40 feet away from where the shooting occurred, he may have been struck by one of these skip rounds.an extremely, extremely unfortunate incident".
Multiple agencies are investigating the deadly shooting, including the L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, the sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affair Bureau.
