Minnesota State Patrol officers arrest protesters during a gathering after the verdict.

Both were in the vehicle when the officer shot Castile during a traffic stop on July 6 of previous year. The video that Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, filmed as he lay bleeding and dying in the passenger seat, drew global attention to the case unlike anything in Minnesota's recent history, and it also helped bring many previous politically inactive youth to their first street protests.

Many people chanted in unison "stand up, fight back" and "if we don't get no justice, they don't get no peace".

Yanez testified that Castile, a school cafeteria worker, was reaching for his gun despite his commands not to pull it out. The department's chief promised a new unit would be ready to handle peaceful demonstrations by the time the verdict came down in the Yanez trial. She says those arrested were booked at Ramsey County Jail on charges including being a pedestrian on the busy freeway. "This time we had to get it right", she said.

The verdict also tells blacks that "the Second Amendment does not apply to them" because Castile "was honest with the officer about having a weapon in the auto, and there is no evidence that he attempted to or meant to use the weapon against the officer", the Louisiana Democrat said. Yanez shot Castile five times.

"At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a few dozen protesters had gathered in front of the Governor's Residence, the site of a almost three-week encampment after Castile's death last summer".

"The City of St. Anthony has concluded that the public will be best served if Officer Yanez is no longer a police officer in our city", the city said in a statement.

Yanez said he feared for his safety and thought Castile was reaching for the gun.

"I don't doubt that Officer Yanez is a decent person, but he made a awful mistake from our perspective, and that's what this case was about", Choi said.

Queen Elizabeth's speech includes no mention of Trump visit to UK
The queen will read a speech written by the prime minister and her staff. And Parliament will also introduce a new bill on immigration.

Reynolds' daughter - 4 years old at the time - was also in the vehicle.

Protests in the wake of the shooting put another spotlight on the systemic violence faced by black men and women at the hands of police, and watchdog and human rights groups reacted to the verdict by urging an overhaul to police standards for the use of lethal force.

26 people were arrested from both the capitol and freeway protests.

The death of Philando Castile was sad and according to testimony in the Yanez trial, unnecessary.

Yanez was also found not guilty of two other lesser charges of recklessly discharging a firearm.

Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, testified that her boyfriend was simply reaching for his wallet to give Yanez the driver's license he asked for. They raised questions about discrepancies in Reynolds' statements to investigators, including where Castile carried his wallet and who purchased the marijuana that was in the vehicle.

An attorney for Mr Yanez, Mr Earl Gray, praised the verdict. These were his last words.

Another demonstrator said, "This was a case where we thought we would really get some justice, and it turns out we can't".
