The Warriors won in 2015 before the Cavs made their historic comeback a year ago.
James himself thinks that he has never been a part of a juggernaut squad of guys who were considered guaranteed title contenders.
The Golden State Warriors said they have not yet made a decision whether to visit the White House to celebrate their 2017 NBA Championship win. But what we do know is that if both teams head into the Finals as now constructed, Golden State will be the overwhelming favorite to win again.
"There were many nights that I didn't know how we were going to make it", said Wanda Durant. "I don't believe in that".
He's been to seven straight NBA Finals, having won three of them with two different teams - Miami and Cleveland. On one hand, we're witnessing what's probably the best team ever.
The key thing here is that it doesn't seem to be exclusively the Lakers that James is interested in, these reports always concern both teams in Los Angeles, leaving the Clippers as a possibility as well. They're going to be back in the NBA Finals and repeat behind their core four.
Think Mayweather-McGregor is a freak show? How about these?
He has achieved a lot in the UFC but he is a celebrity more than anything, and it is his popularity that has given him his chance. After all, making "hundreds and hundreds of millions" of dollars didn't stop Mayweather from coming back for more.
The teams he joined were comparable to "superteams", with three star players banning together with a set aspiration of a title run - similar to what Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett accomplished with the Boston Celtics championship squad in 2008. And if he opts not to sign the super max with the Cavaliers and leaves Cleveland, L.A. certainly looks like the most attractive option.
2017: Cleveland Cavalier vs.
Kevin Durant Cleveland Cavaliers at Golden State Warriors, Oakland, USA - 12 Jun 2017 Golden State Warriors player Kevin Durant celebrates after winning the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in game five of the NBA Finals. A team that had an earth shattering 73-9 record in 2016.
"Somebody asked me about it a couple months ago, a hypothetical, if a championship were to happen, what would I do", Curry said. "I put in the work individually, in the film room, in my mind, my body every, single day to prepare myself for whatever obstacle that this ball club entails". "She's seen how I come home after losses and how tough I take it ... it feels good to see it come full circle", he said. "And I was like, OK, we left everything on the floor, and it still wasn't enough".
The truth will likely be that James gives little thought to his future as the season unfolds, then gauges the competitiveness of the Cavs and what his personal goals and interests are at that time.
