The most anticipated fight in years is finally happening.

McGregor is the top pay-per-view draw in UFC while Mayweather had been the money-spinner in some of boxing's biggest bouts, including matchups with Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao and U.S. star Oscar De La Hoya.

McGregor and Mayweather are set to compete inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 26. The fight will be at 154 pounds, for 12 rounds, with the fighters wearing 10-ounce gloves.

McGregor is now ranked No. 1 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, and he sits at No. 4 in the MMA pound-for-pound rankings. He has achieved a lot in the UFC but he is a celebrity more than anything, and it is his popularity that has given him his chance.

It won't be cheap for viewers however: when Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao in the "Fight of the Century" UK viewers had to pay £19.95 (€24.95 in Ireland) to watch. McGregor has proven the power of his infamous left hand with 18 of his 21 career wins resulting from a knock-out.

The long-awaited boxing match is going down in August.

He was later criticized after he launched a Twitter attack on London Mayor Sadiq Khan in the wake of that attack. Asked if he had ever expressed extremist views or behaviour, she said: "No, none whatsoever".

But this is a deal that has had its fair share of critics, with highly respected figures branding the fight an "embarrassment", while some fighters have been keen to get on the undercard. "I love both these guys".

"When two men get in there and they square off, and start throwing punches, anything is possible". "So they can be as disgusted as they want, it's what everyone wants to see".

Stephen Espinoza, the head of Showtime Sports, who will air the money spinning fight, said, "This is really an unprecedented event". After all, making "hundreds and hundreds of millions" of dollars didn't stop Mayweather from coming back for more.

That's because TMZ Sports is reporting that Mayweather expects to make between $200 million and $300 million for the McGregor fight, although the exact terms haven't been disclosed just yet.

"It's up to the fans if they are going to patronize or see the fight", Pacquiao told Philstar.com on Thursday-via a text message relayed by his media officer Aquiles Zonio-from his training camp in General Santos City.
