If the clouds in London had a silver lining for Australia, it was that they put in a much-improved performance, bowling Bangladesh out inside 45 overs as all of their bowlers proved more accurate than they had been against New Zealand.

"I thought all our bowlers were a lot better today", said Smith.

With heavy rain forecasted, Australia were expected to race out of the blocks but David Warner and Aaron Finch showed restraint to reach 40 unbeaten after seven overs. "I think our team probably respond to must-win games really well", he said.
