After Comey's testimony, Trump again dangled the possibility that he has "tapes" of his conversations at the White House. They wanted all the information after the inauguration of the White House.
Much has gone down ever since then, including Comey's explosive testimony, in which he made several accusations against the President and said he hope there were tapes recording their conversations.
But some, have questioned whether Trump is just bluffing about the tapes.
But in case there was any doubt, the Secret Service said Monday that it has no idea what the president was talking about when he tweeted in May about "tapes" of his conversations with YouTube celebrity and waterboarding champion James Comey.
Personal anecdote: Candidate Trump once said he had taped a call with me, after disputing how he was quoted.
The Secret Service has previously been responsible for all recording systems within the White House, including the one that led to Richard Nixon's downfall during the Watergate scandal.
Ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee Mark Warner told reporters that Mr Mueller had briefed senators Wednesday on his work.
Trump losing ground in poll
This is reportedly the first time that President Trump's overall approval rating reached the 50% mark since April this year. Rasmussen is often an outlier that consistently shows Trump with higher approval ratings than most other polls .
And in a press conference Friday, President Trump said he would reveal whether there were tapes in "a very short period of time".
In recent days, the two men [Comey and Trump] have offered differing accounts of whether Mr. Trump asked Mr. Comey in private conversations within the White House complex to ease off the FBI's probe of former national security adviser Mike Flynn.
Yet others interviewed by CNN took it as the latest indication Trump is out of his depth in Washington. The paper said it made the request on May 15.
If Trump's initial tapes tweet was meant as an intimidation tactic, it nearly certainly backfired. "There might be a tape".
Sessions appeared before the intelligence committee just five days after Comey, whom Trump fired on May 9, told the panel Trump ousted him to undermine the agency's investigation of the Russian Federation matter.
The U.S. Secret Service said Monday it doesn't have any recordings or transcripts of any tapes recorded within President Donald Trump's White House, a disclosure that failed to rule out whether any tapes exist of Trump's conversations with ousted FBI Director James Comey.
