"We may have our differences, but we do well, in times like these, to remember that everyone who serves in our nation's capital is here because, above all, they love our country", Trump said.

President Donald Trump complained on social media about the wide-ranging investigation of Russian interference in the USA election as Robert Mueller appeared to widen his probe to include whether Trump tried to obstruct justice. In a March 22 meeting, Trump reportedly asked whether Coats could ask Comey to back off the FBI's focus on Flynn.

In his June 8 appearance before the Senate Intel Committee, Comey, who Trump fired on May 9, detailed the attempts by the President to blunt or halt the FBI's probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Russia's role in the 2016 Presidential election.

News of Mueller looking into potential obstruction comes after former FBI Director James Comey testified last week.

The special counsel appointed to investigate Russian influence in the 2016 presidential campaign has met with a Senate committee probing the same matter.

The president complained the probe is unfair and wondered why his defeated Democratic opponent wasn't getting the same scrutiny.

"Why is [it] that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?"

Trump losing ground in poll
This is reportedly the first time that President Trump's overall approval rating reached the 50% mark since April this year. Rasmussen is often an outlier that consistently shows Trump with higher approval ratings than most other polls .

President Trump dismissed a potential obstruction of justice investigation into his conduct, calling allegations of collusion between him, his campaign or people associated with him and Russian Federation a "phony story". "To Trump", Klein writes, "this is something "they" did to him". "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!"

An aide to Vice President Mike Pence revealed on Thursday that he was hiring Richard Cullen-a veteran of the Iran-Contra investigation, Watergate and the 2000 vote recount in Florida-as a private lawyer.

The new development Thursday appears to be that the inquiry has shifted to Mueller. The order by the general counsel for his transition team casts a wide net on documents that could shed light on ties between Trump's presidential campaign and representatives of Russia's government.

For example, "it appears he has recruited an experienced Justice Department trial attorney, Lisa Page, a little-known figure outside the halls of Main Justice but one whose resume boasts intriguing hints about where Mueller's Russian Federation investigation might lead".

Comey's firing is a "central moment that's being looked at" in the investigation, Post reporter Devlin Barrett told NPR's Ari Shapiro on All Things Considered, "but it's not the only thing".

Two senior intelligence officials, Daniel Coats, the current director of national intelligence, and Mike Rogers, the head of the National Security Agency, agreed to be interviewed by Mueller as early as this week.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Mr Trump's legal team, denounced the Post report, saying on Wednesday: "The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal".

Comey painted a picture of an overbearing President he did not trust and who pressured him to stop the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of Flynn. If President Trump and his campaign did not collude with Russian Federation, he and his administration should be welcoming the investigation to put any false accusations to rest.
