"This is really an unprecedented event", said Stephen Espinoza, who heads Showtime Sports, which will handle the pay-per-view.

After a year of what seemed like nothing but two dudes flexing at each other across social media, somehow, one of the biggest fights ever was finalized. Floyd Mayweather is 40 years old, he's always had problems with southpaws, and Conor McGregor is 27 years old, and he is a southpaw.

Mayweather retired in 2015 with an incredible 49-0 record, but will return to the sport for what is likely to be one last payday.

The 12-round fight, which will be fought at a 154-pound limit - well above Mayweather's typical 147 fighting weight but near McGregor's natural fighting weight - is expected to draw a lot of attention and millions of dollars in pay-per-view revenue. The fight will take place in a boxing ring and be governed by boxing rules. Mayweather Jr. said Wednesday, June 14, 2017, he will come out of retirement to face UFC star Conor McGregor in a boxing match on August 26.

However, UFC President Dana White confirmed on Wednesday that the fight would be held at the marginally larger T-Mobile Arena. It finally came together and Nevada boxing officials on Wednesday approved the date for a Mayweather Promotions bout. After winning that fight, against Andre Berto, he announced his retirement for the second time. McGregor, 28, will be entering unknown territory as he has not stepped into a boxing ring since he was a teenager.

That makes Mayweather a heavy favourite to beat the mixed martial arts fighter, who is known for his explosive power.

Phil Jones welcomes battle with Victor Lindelof for Man Utd place
And despite the addition of Lindelof, Jones says he is not threatened by the defender's arrival at Old Trafford. Speaking about what type of player he thinks he is, Lindelof said "I think I'm quite a calm player".

"Realistically if we were just putting up a number and didn't have to take bets on it, Floyd would be 100-1", Bogdanovich said.

"The reason Conor McGregor's as big as he is is he'll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime".

That doesn't mean it will actually be a great fight.

The bad blood between the two is definitely a thing to watch out for as this fight's hype was built from amid trash-talks and heated exchange of words.

The hotly debated boxing match will mark the first time that a current UFC champion challenges a boxer in a boxing match and it comes less than a month before Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez meet in a highly anticipated fight that could rival it for pay-per-view buys.

Mayweather will reportedly be paid over 100 million United States dollars for the contest, which will be broadcast on pay-per-view networks across the world.
