"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", $208.4 million.
Production companies seize the opportunity of coming holidays to promote their new movies so they can reside or hopefully reaches the top. The panned film (we're talking a dismal 19 percent on Rotten Tomatoes right now) opened with $18 million this weekend and will scratch out $22 million by the end of the long weekend, per Box Office Mojo. Priyanka Chopra (Quantico) also stars in the poorly reviewed movie (it now has a 19 percent on Rotten Tomatoes), which brought in weekend earnings of $18.1 million so far, with the film estimated to come in at $22 million after Monday. Dead Man's Chest came out in 2006 and brought in an opening-weekend revenue of $135.6 million.
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales led the way this Memorial Day weekend while Paramount's Baywatch struggled to match expectations. It's the second fastest a studio has reached the mark domestically, second only to Disney's record performance past year when the studio surpassed $1 billion in early May.
Memorial Day revenue at the North American box office posted to its lowest marks in nearly 20 years. That, combined with the $77 million it's expected to pull in over the four-day holiday domestically, should easily put the film over $300 million globally during its opening frame. Meanwhile, the worldwide numbers for the film have soared to over $450 million, bringing its overall total to a staggering $783.3 million, which surpasses the first Guardians of the Galaxy. Regarding Baywatch, it stars one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood (Dwayne Johnson), has a built-in audience, is an action/comedy hybrid like so many popular movies lately and contains dozens of gorgeous people.

In spite of Comey disagreeing with Lynch's request to use her "matter" descriptor, he said that he chose to move on. Of course, this embrace of Comey is a far cry from his treatment at the hands of feminists just six months ago.
Fox's "Alien: Covenant" should end up in fourth during its second weekend in theaters.
Even "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" did better in its fourth weekend. Finally, Beauty and the Beast took in another $1.6 million to bring its domestic total to a whopping $500.6 million.
Over time, the Pirates franchise has become more reliant on overseas ticket sales, and that is certainly the case this time out.
