United Kingdom police carry out controlled explosion near site of new U.S. embassy

Scotland Yard was called to reports of two unattended vehicles in a street in the Vauxhall area.

Police have carried out a controlled explosion at the construction site of the new USA embassy in London.

Wandsworth Police tweeted that they were now dealing with the situation. Security officials said London Ambulance service and fire brigade were in attendance as well, while the site was cordoned off.

A senior Interior Ministry official told Iran's state TV the male attackers wore women's attire. Commuters in the Iranian capital noticed more police than usual on the streets as dawn broke.

They wrote: "The incident in Ponton Roadl Wandsworth has been stood down".

The U.S. Embassy said that at that time in the new building of the diplomatic mission of the Embassy staff was not.
