Subaru USA has finally released details about the latest editions of the BRZ and the WRX STI.
Subaru has revealed two new limited edition performance models that will be limited to 500 units each when they go on sale in early 2018, but not in Britain - both cars will be sold on the USA market only.
The new WRX STI Type RA receives the bigger makeover compared to the standard model it's based on. The BRZ tS is also equipped with 18-in. lightweight STI wheels (the first time that a BRZ has been offered with 18-inch wheels) mounted with 215/40 R 18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires for superior grip and quicker turn-in.
Likely aimed at the recently announced Ford Focus RS Limited Edition, the WRX STI RA is fitted with Bilstein dampers at all four corners, inverted front struts and rear double-wishbone suspension. A set of six-piston Brembo brakes with cross-drilled rotors makes sure that stopping power will always be there.

As I noted in my Apple iPad Pro (2017) Preview , that device will only get truly interesting once iOS 11 is available. It was the company's second iPhone to support five major versions of iOS: six, seven, eight, nine and 10.
The engine is the same 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer four that's powered the STI for the last billion years, but this time it's making 310 horsepower-up from 305 in the standard vehicle, thanks to a new cold air intake, a high-flow exhaust, stronger pistons, and a retuned ECU. The six-speed transmission features a revised 3 gear ratio paired with a short throw shifter. The final touch is a carbon fiber rear wing.
Both the 2018 WRX STI Type RA and BRZ tS will be available in WR Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Silica and Crystal White Pearl. There's also a new front lip spoiler for better high-speed stability, as well as black fender badges, a carbon fiber wing and a carbon fiber roof panel. To that end, it comes with STI-tuned SACHS dampers and coil springs in the front and rear, plus a stiffer chassis and sub-frame.
Are you disappointed that the Subaru WRX STi Type RA won't be coming to Britain? Underspoilers are added to the front, rear and sides, and the fog lights were replaced with covers. The rear hatch displays the official BRZ tS badge.
Exterior Cosmetic changes are similar to the BRZ tS'. Pricing has not yet been announced.
