And now their series against Montreal is even.

The Eastern Conference quarter-final playoff series between the Rangers and the Canadiens has been reduced to a best-of-three affair after the Rangers posted a 2-1 win Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden to tie the series at two games apiece. He swiped at the puck with this stick, giving it to Edmonton's Mark Letestu.

The Rangers had scored a sum total of four goals through their six-game home playoff losing streak.

"In 2017 in the playoffs we've had one loss (at home)", Vigneault said. "We have to give more at home, in the playoffs, or we aren't going to win". The Canadiens limited NY to 21 shots on goal and made life relatively easy for goaltender Carey Price.

Montreal captain Max Pacioretty expects the Rangers to play with more intensity Tuesday night and believes his team will be ready for that. So yeah, there's obvious some concern with the officiating in this game and series overall.

"We had stretches where they came really hard and made it tough for us", Lundqvist said. The Rangers returned home to NY for game three and anticipated a win but the team wasn't playing like themselves and let the Canadiens take advantage of them.

The Rangers. The offense gets going and Lundqvist from Game 1 returns to help the Rangers even the series in a key spot.

The puck bounced off his skate and kicked right to Jesper Fast, who beat Price with a backhand between the legs to make it 1-0 at 11:39 of the first period. We played a better game. "I'm proud of our club, the way they've handled themselves".

While goals were scarce in New York's 2-0 victory in Game 1, there were three in the first period alone Friday.

Spending talks advance as border wall falls to wayside
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) praised Trump's willingness to postpone the funding in a statement Monday night. Republican Senator Roger Wicker said there was a "substantial figure" in the spending bill dedicated to border security .

Lundqvist kept it scoreless as he stopped Andrew Shaw on a breakaway midway through the first period.

McDavid, the NHL's regular-season scoring leader, got his first National Hockey League playoff goal at the 10:31 mark of the third, streaking down the left side and launching a short-side wrist shot that eluded Jones.

They had no pressure, which is why they had 12 shots on goal through two periods, six in the first and six in the second. Goaltender Carey Price had just left the ice for an extra skater, and there was Shea Weber at the blue line, loading the cannon for a one-timer from such a great distance that Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist would have plenty of time to react to it. Zuccarello led the Rangers in assists this season, and his playmaking ability will certainly be needed if NY wants to even this series.

"I thought we were very focused from start to finish", Canadiens coach Claude Julien said. "Just sticking with it, sticking with the system, trusting it when (we're) down".

The visitors became more aggressive in the third period but struggled to get many legitimate chances at the net. That gave the Blueshirts a 2-1 lead they would take into the third period. Price mishandled a puck behind the net and was late getting into position, giving Rick Nash (who was unsafe all night) an open side that he failed to convert.

In Game 4, the Rangers finally answered back by revitalizing their strategy to compete with the Canadiens. Tanner Glass, who scored in Game 1, and Kevin Klein were among the scratches. The Rangers power play had gone 0-10 this series to that point. The goal was waived off and the Rangers power play was over as Nash was whistled for goaltender interference. The Rangers were dominant in the second period and scored twice.

Jake Allen, Blues - He did not need to make 51 saves like he did in game one, but Allen was again stellar in net for the Blues.

The Canadiens have their work cut out for them in the lead-up to Thursday's Game 5 at the Bell Centre. "It's a long series, it's a best of [seven], you've got to wear guys down". Pittsburgh got the late goal but ran out of time. It certainly won't be easy, but going back to Montreal tied 2-2 is a heck of a lot better than fighting back from a 3-1 deficit. In Game 3, it was much of the same.
