The House Oversight Committee has been focusing on probing Flynn while the House and Senate intelligence committees have been heading the main investigations into the wider issue of Russia's interference in the US elections and possible coordination with members of the Trump campaign, according to CNN.

"The committee sent a form letter to several agencies, including the White House asking to find those documents". He referred some of the requests for documents to the Defense Department and said other documents were likely to contain classified or confidential information. The House Intelligence Committee has also invited Yates and Clapper to testify in a public hearing that has not yet been scheduled. By contrast, the House Select Committee on Benghazi employed more than 50 congressional staffers. Invoices showed that Flynn was paid about $34,000 to attend the event, which was hosted by the Kremlin-funded television channel RT.

Chaffetz and Cummings held the press conference after being briefed on classified documents the Oversight Committee had requested from the Defense Department related to Flynn's lobbying work and whether he had properly disclosed payments he received from foreign entities.

"The statute's real clear". Flynn's contact with Kislyak and other foreign nationals is being investigated by the House Intelligence Committee, which Chaffetz said would be taking the lead on examining whether those contacts themselves were inappropriate. "It's a pretty high bar". "This is a major problem", Cummings said.

Cummings noted that the security clearance states that knowingly leaving off payments from foreign governments is a felony punishable with up to five years in prison.

The two lawmakers also said the White House had refused to provide them with documents requested by the committee related to Flynn's security clearance and payments from an organization with ties to foreign governments.

Cummings then added that the White House has refused to provide information to the committee during their investigation.

Ajax's home stadium to be named after Johan Cruyff
The Amsterdam ArenA will be renamed the Johan Cruyff stadium as a homage to the memory of the Ajax and Netherlands excellent. Amsterdam Arena is the home of AFC Ajax , who Cruyff led to three European Cups.

This comes after reviewing Michael Flynn's application for a security clearance.

During a briefing Tuesday, Press Secretary Sean Spicer defended the White House's response to the committee's request, saying the documents the group asked for and the actions Flynn took "all of that occurred prior to his service" with the Trump administration. But that response has raised more questions.

This announcement from the Oversight Committee is new, but the revelation of Flynn's legal troubles isn't.

There, Flynn's contacts will be discussed, and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates is set to testify as well.

The Trump administration has been dogged by questions about the extent of contact members of the campaign team had with Russian Federation during the 2016 election, adding to the scrutiny on Mr Flynn.

Former acting attorney general Sally Yates is scheduled to appear at a congressional hearing next month on Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election. Would Flynn testify about the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation? US intelligence agencies have concluded Moscow intervened to try to influence the election in Trump's favor. Russian Federation has denied the allegations, which have cast a shadow over the first 100 days of Trump's presidency.

Rep. Gerry Connolly, a Democratic member of the House oversight committee, said on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" that there is "no question" Flynn had committed a crime. The panel's chairman, Republican Representative Devin Nunes, a close Trump ally, recused himself from the investigation last month. Nunes recused himself from the investigation two weeks after telling reporters that classified reports showed Trump associates had been caught up in USA government surveillance of foreign officials during the presidential transition.
