Two held in France on suspicion of planning attack during election

Security has already been a strong campaign theme, and far-right candidate Marine Le Pen hardened her tone Tuesday on foreign extremists and border controls while centrist Emmanuel Macron called for national unity and stronger intelligence.

According to Paris Prosecutor François Molins, a machine gun, two hand guns and three kilos of TATP explosive were found in a flat which was raided in connection with the investigation.

France goes to the polls to choose a new president on April 23, with a second round of voting due on May 7.

He gave no details about potential targets or motives.
