Dr. Schulenberg has reportedly admitted to prescribing the singer Oxycodone shortly before he reportedly overdosed on his private jet, which came nearly one week prior to his death.

The post-mortem report reads that Prince self-administered fentanyl, opioid many time more powerful than heroin. The authorities are reported to have searched the singer's home, mobile phone records of his associates as well as his email accounts in an attempt to ascertain where he acquired the fentanyl.

Six witnesses at the scene told investigators that Prince "had a history of going through withdrawals, which are believed to be the result of the abuse of prescription medication", according to an affidavit.

Prince was found unresponsive in a lift at his complex. Some were in prescription bottles for Kirk Johnson, Prince's longtime friend and associate.

Dr Michael Todd Schulenberg allegedly said in a testimonial that he had written at least one prescription for oxycodone in the name of Kirk Johnson, Prince's friend and bodyguard, for the star's "privacy". There are no restrictions on Dr. Schulenberg's medical license, and contrary to headlines and media reports published in the wake of today's unsealing of search warrants relating to the investigation, Dr. Schulenberg never directly prescribed opioids to Prince, nor did he ever prescribe opioids to any other person with the intent that they would be given to Prince.

Court documents reveal how Prince concealed an addiction to illegally prescribed opioid painkillers before his death. Investigators have been working under the assumption that Prince did not know that the pills he took contained the drug.

She had been on the flight with Prince from Atlanta days before his death when he lost consciousness, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing at Moline, Illinois.

In addition to the dozens of pills recovered, authorities also found a pamphlet for an addiction recovery center in California, the documents unsealed Monday show.

"Many of those areas where the pills were located would be places Prince would frequent, such as his bedroom and wardrobe/laundry room", one document said.

On Monday, the search warrants and affidavits from the Carver County Sheriff's Office, which is leading the continuing homicide investigation along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, were unsealed.

Schulenberg also told investigators that on April 15, he had prescribed Prince oxycodone, also in Johnson's name. He has never sought public attention or celebrity, even in the face of the events of the a year ago, and will continue to make his patients' health and wellbeing his first priority.

Among the additional evidence found at Paisley Park was a suitcase with a name tag for "Peter Bravestrong", an alias used by Prince, containing several prescription bottles in Mr Johnson's name.
