European Ryder Cup stalwart Ian Poulter of England and 2012 US Open victor Webb Simpson were two shots back at eight-under 134, one stroke better than five players including first-round leader Bud Cauley, who followed an opening 63 with 72.
Graham DeLaet eagled the par-4 ninth hole and shot a 4-under 67 on Friday for a share of the second-round lead with Luke Donald in the RBC Heritage.
Kevin Kisner shot a five-under 66 to move into a third-place tie with Webb Simpson, two back.
Russell Henley continued his recent run of top-flight golf with a 66 to join a group that included former US Open victor Webb Simpson and Ian Poulter.
Ian Poulter, in a chase to stay on tour, shot 69 to stay in fifth. He was hoping for a turnaround this weekend, but he missed the cut by three shots after shooting 3-over on Friday. Poulter tried to set up, but the gator would not relent until the caddie of playing partner Simpson charged the reptile.
Kim rolled in nine birdies Thursday and had just one bogey as she rocketed from a tie for 48th after the first round to become the co-leader with Thailand star Ariya Jutanugarn when play was suspended for the day.

Poulter, playing on a major medical extension, is on the clock to keep his card and needs about $145,000 in his next two events to maintain his playing status and is off to a strong start. He's in good shape, as fifth place pays $260,000.

"All of a sudden they are tied then there is a three-shot difference while there is birdies and there are eagles, there is balls in bushes, there is penalty drops and, I mean, it had everything on the back nine that we come to love about Augusta National".
DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Bob Tway is the first-round leader at the PGA Tour Champions' Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Duluth, Ga.
Donald has held the lead at a tour event after 36 holes on eight occasions throughout his career, but those have never resulted in wins.
Tway, 57, an eight-time victor on the PGA Tour who is winless on the 50-and-over circuit, birdied the par-5 sixth to reach 9 under, then dropped shots on the par-4 seventh and ninth at TPC Sugarloaf.
Defending champion Woody Austin opened with a 69.
"I guess there's a lot of ways to get around the course, and I'm trying to do it in the way that I think I can do it with the least amount of strokes", DeLaet said. In his first six RBC Heritage appearances, DeLaet's best finish was 14th a year ago. The one slip from Dunne was a double-bogey on No. 13.
DeLaet started the day in mediocre fashion as a bogey on the third hole combined with a handful of pars left him one-over par through seven.
