Brighton, who last played in the old First Division in 1982/83, narrowly missed out on top-flight football a year ago when they finished third following a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on the final day of the season, eventually succumbing in the play-off semi-finals. The Premier League is really tough, we know that, and we are going to hopefully have a good season and enjoy being in the Premier League for many years to come. We have to strengthen, that goes without saying.
Bloom, despite his reputation as a poker player, is also a keen businessman and bears strong ties to the club historically - his family were involved with Brighton dating back to the 1970s when his grandfather Harry was vice-chairman.
